Sharing Shakespeare…and more
You are never too young to appreciate the genius of The Bard, as Junior School students from Berwick Campus discovered this week.
Years 3 and 4 students performed adaptations of four Shakespeare plays, with each performance built around the College’s ‘Creating Peace’ theme.
It was all part of Grandparents’ Day, which attracted 650 grandparents eager to enjoy activities, learn about new technology such as the interactive whiteboards, share morning tea and appreciate the performance skills of 262 students.
They also compared notes with students on what it was like going to school in “the olden days”.
Along with the Shakespeare plays, there were choir performances and song and dance items by the younger year levels – for many Preparatory students it was their first time on stage.
Head of Junior School Mrs Judy Barton said the day was a resounding success.
“Every child in the Junior School participated, so it was a pretty big undertaking. But they absolutely loved it,” she said.
The students followed the event with performances at the Junior School Spring Concert.
