Aerobics Team Australian Champions
Aerobics champions: (back row l-r) Stephanie K, Lauren C, Brodie E, Marian M, Kelly-Anne C and Karina S. (Front row l-r) Monique G, Kelly M, Hannah K and Ashlee C.
My congratulations to 10 students from our Pakenham Campus aerobics team who are jumping for joy this week after becoming national champions in their sport.
The Valley Stars Aerobics team competed in the School Aerobics National Championships and the girls have brought home gold medals for winning their section, which was a pre-choreographed routine.
It is a commendable achievement given this team of Year 9 girls only formed a year ago and had never participated in competitive aerobics before.
The Valley Stars entered the competition as the Victorian State Champions after winning that title in June this year.
Credit must also go to their coach, Head of Personal Development Renyce McConnell, who guided them through training three times a week; before school, after school and during lunchtimes.
She attributes the girls’ success to teamwork and dedication, with the added incentive of a trip to Queensland to compete.
The girls have now achieved the highest level possible for school aerobic competition. An amazing effort.
