teachkids250810Four keen Berwick Campus students joined more than 250 other students in Albury from 15th to 17th August for the 2010 Kids Teaching Kids Conference.

The environment and education event enables students to teach each other through interactive and informative workshops.

It aims to raise awareness about our unique natural environment, river systems, resources and indigenous culture.

Students made presentations about environmental issues of concern in the regions where they live, such as the impact of pollution and salinity or how to rehabilitate creeks and wetlands.

The Beaconhills team comprised three Year 7 students and Luke M, from Year 8, who was a member of the HELP (Helping the Endangered Leadbeaters Possum) Future Problem Solving Team that placed second earlier this year at the International Future Problem Solving finals in the USA.

Luke’s speech at the Kids Teaching Kids Conference also focused on the plight of the possum, with an accompanying movie.

The team was fortunate enough to attract sponsorship money from Parks Victoria to attend the conference.
