School Start Bonus

What is the School Start Bonus?

The School Start Bonus was introduced by the Victorian Government in 2006 to assist parents/guardians in meeting the start-up costs of primary and secondary school. The initiative provides financial assistance to families to purchase school and sporting uniforms, school bags, books and similar items.

Who is eligible for the School Start Bonus?

Each student enrolled in Prep and Year 7 and in attendance in Term 1 at any registered Victorian (government or non-government) school will be eligible for the bonus.

How much is the Bonus and when is it paid?

The $300 School Start Bonus per student cash payment voucher will be available to the parent from the school prior to the end of 2008, for the 2009 school year. The cash payment voucher will be redeemable at most Australia Post Office outlets from the 12th January 2009 so parents will be able to purchase required school items prior to the commencement of the school year.

When will you receive the Cash Payment Voucher

The cash payment Voucher will be issued to all eligible parents/guardians at the end of the school year. For further information please visit
