Sub-Schooling at BeaconhillsBeaconhills College provides quality education choices to over 2600 students across three picturesque Campuses. Both the Village Campus in Berwick and the Valley Campus in Pakenham are Preparatory through Year 12. The Little Beacons Learning Centre in Pakenham is our third purpose built Campus. The College adopts a four sub-school structure that effectively provides Age Appropriate Learning in purpose built environments close to our Centres of Excellence in Performing Arts, Human Movement, Science and Technology and Visual Arts. Grouping students with similar social, emotional and intellectual needs helps to provide a smooth transition in teaching and learning from Preparatory to Year 12. Little Beacons: Birth to 5 YearsOur first sub-school, the Little Beacons Learning Centre in Pakenham specialises in play-based learning programmes from birth to 5 Years. The purpose built centre provides excellence in the care of children in a state of the art learning environment. Junior School: Preparatory to Year 4Students are engaged with their class teacher in the Early Years Literacy, Numeracy and Integrated Studies Programmes. Students’ progress is monitored to ensure continuous individual development. Middle School: Years 5-8The emphasis in Middle School is upon addressing the distinct and unique needs of adolescents, aged 10 to 14, as a group in ‘transition’ from childhood into adulthood. As well as physiological needs, educational needs change as these students move into their next learning phase. Middle Schooling focuses on the individual differences of each student. Year 9Year 9 encourages students to become multifaceted thinkers and learners who grow through being challenged. They are encouraged to discover how they learn and how they can achieve their personal best. Senior School: Years 10-12Students in these years have very specific needs to be addressed if they are to function effectively, successfully and positively. Including Year 10 in Senior Years gives students access to a wider range of subjects and resources. Beaconhills provides a diverse range of learning pathways by offering 42 subjects from which to choose the 23-26 VCE units required to be completed by the end of Year 12. |
